I purchased the MUA Shimmer Highlight Powder in the shade Radiant Cashmere. It is the first baked highlighter I have tried out before and it has definitely taken some getting used to! What I love the most is that as it is a baked highlighter the product doesn’t fall out of the pan and less product is wasted compared to my powder highlights which end up with the powder everywhere!
There is so much product included which is great, and this will last me a while! Despite it being called a shimmer highlighter it is definitely more of a glitter highlighter which I wasn’t expecting. I have never used a glitter highlight before and so I wasn’t sure what it would look like on. I prefer a more subtle highlighter which this highlighter definitely isn’t! I think it is much better for a night out or if you prefer a more glittery look.
This was also the first baked highlighter I had ever used and I don’t like it as much as a powder highlighter. This is because the product doesn’t pick up well using my usual fan brush, instead I have to use a heavier brush to apply it. This makes the product sometimes appear patchy and apply more product than I always want. It isn’t too pigmented which is great because it avoids having glitter patches on your face, the product can be subtly applied or built up for a heavier look.
The packaging is nice and simple and not too bulky, there is loads of product included and I am not running out anytime soon!
Pros and Cons:
- It is very reasonably priced (£3).
- There is lots of product included.
- The packaging is great for travelling.
- The product can be difficult to apply.
- It is a glittery highlight rather than a shimmer.
They have so many different shades which is great for everyone and all looks. I will stick to using this in the evenings or when I’m wanting more of a sparkly look. I would love to know if you have tried this highlighter and what you thought of it in the comments!
