For a while I was looking for a good and affordable BB cream which would help my make up last longer and not look crumbly on my face. A few months ago I came across the Superdrug’s 5-in-1 BB Cream.
I have the shade ‘light’ however it is most certainly not light! It leaves my face looking extremely orange! But I haven’t been put off by this as once I put my foundation over the top my face no-longer looks orange and the BB Cream isn’t seen. I apply the BB Cream all over my face and leave it for a couple of minutes to soak in. It stops my foundation coming off and keeps it lasting all day. It also hydrates my skin and reduces redness. I would definitely recommend this as a base or moisturiser but be careful of the colour you choose as they appear a lot darker than expected on the skin.
The packaging is in an easy to use, squeezy bottle and there is a lot of product so it lasts a along time. You only need a small amount of product as a little goes a long way.
pros and Cons:
- Reduces redness.
- The packaging is easy to use and travel with.
- The light shade is extremely orange.
- As a pale person I cannot use it without foundation.
Let me know if you have tried the Superdrug BB Cream and what you thought of it.
I absolutely love the Boots essential range skincare! It is suitable for all types which is perfect if I suddenly get oily or dry patches. It has a cucumber scent with is my favourite scent for skincare products and they last a really long time.
One of my favourite products is the blemish stick. When you put it on your skin it feels a little oily and doesn’t leave any colouring on your face. For the stick to actually work I apply a large amount onto my spot by rubbing it on for about a minute of so. I leave it on to soak in, usual I do this at night; and my the morning my spot has dramatically reduced. I continue to use it for about three days and by the end my spots have disappeared! I have heard such great reviews about this from friends, everyone says it is amazing!
Another product I love from the Boots essential range is their Moisturising Cream. It has reduced the patches and redness in my skin and leaves it feeling clean and refreshed. Again, like the blemish stick, it smells amazing and is in a small pot which is perfect for traveling but also lasts a really long time.
The final product I like from the range is the eye gel. This has really helped on those sleepless nights when I’ve woken up with bags and redness under my eyes. It is cooling and refreshing, and brightens up my eyes. I like how it is a cool gel as I really feel it reduces the redness and leaves my eyes feeling brighter and more awake.
I haven’t tried any other products in the range but I am sure they are all just as good as these three.
Pros and Cons:
- All products in the range are affordable.
- Perfect for sensitive skin.
- It smells amazing.
- Hydrates my skin.
- The moisturiser is quite bulky and hard to travel with.
- You do have to use quite a lot of product to see results.
Let me know if you have tried any of the products in the Boots Essential Range!
I am always blow drying and straightening my hair which may look nice but it’s not always the best for my hair. I use heat protectant sprays to protect my hair and prevent it from damaging. The two I love to use are the Schwarzkopf Pro Styling Heat Protectant Straightening Spray, and the Boots own Style Works Heat Protectant Spray.
The main one I use is the Schwarzkopf one as it is specifically a strong hold straightening spray and so I feel it keeps my hair straight for a lot longer and I don’t have to keep re-straightening my hair. It is a light spray and so it doesn’t make my hair feel any heavier which is amazing as I find some hair sprays make my hair feel heavier or thicker. I spray it all through my hair when I’m half way through blow drying and my hair is almost completely dry. This is because I have found if I spray it before blow drying then it gets a bit dried out and this way I can ensure my hair is properly protected.
The other hair protectant spray I use is the Boots own brand one in Sleek Finish. This is a cheaper alternative and easier to find! It leaves a smooth and soft finish to my hair and keeps my hair straight for a long time. Similar to the Schwarzkopf one I also spray this when I’m almost finished blow drying. However I’ve found that I need to use less of the Boots one otherwise it makes my hair look a bit fluffy. Also as an added bonus it smells nice!
I like to use heat protectant as I’m always straightening my hair and I want to make sure it’s protected and I don’t damage it.
I would like to hear what heat protectants you use, if any!
Over the past few winter months hand creams have been my saviour. The cold weather always makes my hands feel really dry especially if I’m busy and out all day. Even though we are coming out of the colder months I have continued to use hand creams as I feel they help my skin and keep my hands soft throughout the day. I thought I would share with you some of the hand creams I have been loving.
The first and probably my favourite hand cream is The Body Shop Glazed Apple hand cream. The Glazed Apple scent is my all-time favourite scent so I had to have the hand cream! Not only does it smell amazing but it also nourishes my hands and leaves them feeling clean and softer.
Another hand cream I have been loving is the Soap and Glory Hand Food hand cream. This is a more cream based formula which means it needs to be properly rubbed into your hands otherwise they can feel slightly sticky. This hand cream doesn’t have a smell but it works amazingly and I rarely have to top up throughout the day as it keeps my hands soft for a long time.
I also am really loving the Marks and Spencer’s hand creams in the scents white peach and almond, and Passion flower. I received these as presents a while ago so I’m not sure if you can still buy them but I’m sure other Marks and Spencer’s ones are just as good. These are extremely creamy which leaves my hands feeling amazingly soft and protected. These hand creams smell really nice which is an added bonus!
The final hand cream I am loving was actually a present so I’m not exactly sure where it’s from but it’s by the brand Along Came Betty in the scent Peachy Keen. This hand cream smells and feels amazing; it is more specifically for dry skin so it is very moisturising and really helps to repair your hands.
These are all the hand creams I have been loving at the moment. Let me know what your favourite hand creams are and if you have tried any of the ones I have!
When I started to get spots and red patches I looked everywhere to find the best product to hide and conceal them. I came across green concealer and heard that the Natural Collection one was amazing. I was sceptical at first as Natural Collection make up hasn’t worked that well for me in the past. However, I just wanted to hide my redness as quick and easily as possible and the Natural Collection green concealer did just that!
The concealer is in a stick, cream form which makes it easier to specifically target green areas on your skin. It rubs into your skin but leaves a green tint which counteracts with the redness on your skin. I apply the concealer before I have put on any make up, so that I can cover the green with my usual make up and to avoid any green showing. The green concealer works amazingly and completely covers up my redness once I have applied all my make up. I was extremely surprised at how long the concealer lasts and keeps my redness covered for the whole day!
The concealer is in a small stick which is easy to carry around in case you need to top up throughout the day. It is extremely inexpensive and lasts a long time as you don’t need to use that much. I haven’t tried any other brands because the Natural Collection one works so well!
Pros and Cons:
- Very affordable.
- Covers redness.
- Covers up redness well.
- Does dry out my skin.
I love this green concealer so much! Let me know if you use green concealer and what brand.
A while ago I bought the Maybelline Baby Lips in Pink Punch, I loved using it but for some unknown reason stopped. However, recently I have started using it again and am absolutely loving it! I have also just bought the Dr Rescue one to help my lips during the changing seasons when they get dry.
The Baby Lips are a cross between a lip stick and a lip balm, I think. They are extremely nourishing and leave your lips feeling amazing afterwards. They are soft on and don’t make me feel as if I’m wearing loads of product on my lips – which I love. They are also quite pigmented and leave your lips with a tint of colour; I have the Pink Punch one which leaves a rich pink tint on my lips. I love that it leaves a colour as sometimes with lip balms your lips can be left looking a little sticky. They aren’t shiny or matte and are really creamy and nourishing! They last a fairly long time, however it does need to be toped up throughout the day or night.
The packaging is small and fits easily into any bag which is amazing when you want to use a small bag or don’t want to carry too much. It is also in a stick form which I prefer as they are easier to use and apply.
Pros and Cons:
- They are a great price (£3.99).
- They are nourishing.
- They are not sticky.
- The colour doesn’t last for very long and has to be topped up throughout the day.
I love the Maybelline baby lips so much! Let me know if you have tried them and what your favourite one is!
