I hope you all had an amazing Christmas, I thought I would share some presents which I received in my stocking. In no way am I trying to show off, I am extremely grateful for all the presents I received and want to share them with you incase you wanted some present ideas or are just nosey!
I love stationary and so I was extremely happy to see I had received a collection of sticky notes. There are a variety of different shapes all with different patterns on. This is part of Gabriella’s range from Primark but you can get different sets similar to this in most stationary shops. I think it is a really pretty gift to receive and you know it will come in handy.
I got some nail varnishes which is always a good present for someone who loves painting their nails as you can never have too many nail varnishes! I got a neon green and a deep blue. I haven’t yet tried them out but the colours look really pretty and I can’t wait to use them.
I also got a reed diffuser, which personally I think is a really nice present to both give and receive. They come in all different smells and you can buy them from a range of different shops – so they aren’t hard to find! I got one in a vanilla scent; personally I don’t really like vanilla but it actually smells really nice and isn’t too in-your-face!
Another present I received is a nail care set. I do already have one but they are extremely handy especially to keep in your bag. It contains all nail essential items and the packaging is small and light which makes it easy to carry around with you.
I am really appreciative of all the gifts I received and again am in no way trying to show off. I would love to hear what you got so let me know in the comments! I will also be posting the other more ‘main’ presents I received in a few days so keep an eye out for that!
A few months ago I was out and needed a mascara quickly, so I went into Boots and picked up the cheapest mascara with the view that I would throw it away after I had used it. I bought the Natural Collection lash build mascara in black which to my surprise was really good and made my lashes look really thick. Since buying this mascara I actually didn’t throw it away and occasionally use it on top of my Maybelline lash sensation mascara just for extra volume.
What I found when using the Lash Build mascara on its own was that, despite it making my lashes thick it didn’t help with the length and my lashes just looked extremely short. So I decided to buy the Natural Collection Lash Length mascara.
The brush is small and thin making it easier to apply the mascara on all my lashes and keep them spread apart so they don’t look clumped together. Using this along with the Lash Building mascara makes my lashes look long and thick. For only £1.99 this mascara is actually really good!
I do prefer to use my Maybelline mascara for every day but when I have a bit more time to apply two mascaras or if I want my lashes looking long I use the Natural Collection one.
If you are on a budget or want your lashes looking longer then I would highly recommend the Natural Collection mascaras, they have a variety of different mascara types in both black and brown for all occasions so it isn’t difficult to find one for you!
As some of you may know the Sleek contour kit is my holy-grail favourite contouring palette. And so, because of this it was a bit of a stretch for me to use something else but I thought I would give it a go and try out the Seventeen contour kit. For only £5.99 it is good value for money for what you get.
The packaging is quite large compared to other kits, however it is still a good size. The kit comes with a bronzer and a very light powder. There is also a helpful insert showing you where to apply the product incase you want some help or knowledge on where to apply it.
I bought the shade Fair because I have very pale skin; I found the kit more of a day time look as its quite subtle. You can build it up to a darker look; however, I still think its more for during the day. The powder it comes with I like to use under my eyes. I does make some difference, but I think its more to emphasise the contouring and make it appear darker.
The product is long lasting and good if your starting out or looking for the ‘no make up, make up look’. I would definitely recommend this kit!
A few years ago I loved wearing the Seventeen Skin Perfecting shine free foundation but when I went to buy some more they stopped selling it. From then I changed to my MAC face and body foundation. Recently I thought I would give Seventeen foundation another go and was disappointed; I bought the Miracle Matte foundation in the hopes it would be similar but it wasn’t. The formula is too thick and more of a mousse like consistency, its difficult to blend in and leaves your face looking patchy.
In one final attempt I bought the Stay Time foundation and I am completely in love! The consistency is extremely thick as it is a full cover foundation; however, it doesn’t feel as heavy on your skin and blends in so well. I got the shade porcelain which matches my skin tone perfectly and doesn’t leave me with an orange tone as it is more of a yellow based foundation. I wouldn’t say it was a matte shade however I also wouldn’t say it is dewy; instead I think it is somewhere in the middle. If you are like me and like to wear a matte foundation I just apply powder over the top and it makes it more of a matte finish.
It does claim to last up to 25 hours which can’t say I completely agree with; however, it does last the whole day and it could just be that I touch my face a lot so it rubs off! It leaves your skin feeling smooth and soft. Because it is full coverage it covers up redness and spots on your face and you could even wear it without concealer!
The bottle style is different to any i’ve seen before, instead of a lid the top twists allowing you to push down and release the product. Once you are finished you just turn the top back and it stops you from accidentally pressing down and getting your foundation everywhere. The only problem I would say with this is that it gets extremely messy and it isn’t always the easiest to push down and release the foundation – especially because it is very thick.
Overall, this is definitely my new favourite foundation, I love it so much! It applies nicely, is long lasting and looks smooth and not patchy on my skin.
Let me know in the comments if you have tried this foundation and what you thought of it.
